Problems with Ebook Pro are very rare and can be solved quickly and easily IF you get the EXACT error message. Don't guess what the error message was!!

IMPORTANT: The #1 problem is when people think a step below applies to other people, but not to them.

TIP: This Download Support FAQ is kept 100% up to date. If a problem exists, it is answered on this page. Really and truly. So relax, your answer is here.

STEP 1. Are you using Windows with an Asian character set OR any Asian version of Windows (RUSSIA, JAPAN, CHINA, ETC.)? If yes, YOU MUST STOP NOW AND CLICK HERE.

 

STEP 2. Are you using a firewall or anti-virus program set on HIGH or MAXIMUM SETTINGS? If yes, YOU MUST STOP NOW AND CLICK HERE.

 

STEP 3. Okay, then, go ahead and click the picture that matches or is closest to what you see on your PC screen or just scroll down through the page to see all possible problems:



1. Registration Failed - Username and Password Combination is Invalid.

Solution:

a) Did you key in the username and password properly, with NO SPACES before or after the username and password?
b) Did you download the Ebook you PAID for? It is easy to download the wrong ebook. Passwords for the Users Manual will not work in the Technical Manual, etc. Verify by looking at the title that appears in the top viewer bar.
c) Did BOTH your Ebook Viewer and the book itself download completely? Your connection may have timed out and not downloaded it fully. TO BE CERTAIN, DELETE IT and then re-download it. IMPORTANT NOTE: Some ftp programs are set to disconnect if there is no keyboard activity after X minutes. This will give you only part of the file. You may have to change your settings or move your mouse during the download to be sure it doesn't time out (quit) during the download.

2. Max registration limit reached. OR There are no available registrations remaining to gain access to this eBook.

Solution:

The license for your ebook allows you to only use your Ebook on one computer at a time. You may use it in two locations if you:

a) buy two copies, or
b) upgrade to paperback, OR
c) select Help-Uninstall on the other computer each time you wish to switch.

TIP: If your computer has crashed and you can no longer access your previous version to uninstall it, you must send your userid to customer.service@oscommercemanuals.com so we can reset it for you.

TIP: Very rarely, a user with TWO DIFFERENT EBOOKS on the same computer can be viewed by the registration server as having multiple copies of the same ebook. If this happens to you, you must send both of your userids and we will reset them for you.

3. The Ebook will not open, but the registration screen comes up. The viewer screen does NOT show the Table of Contents and the top bar of the viewer says "Ebook NOT FOUND".

 

 

Solution:

Your Ebook is not fully downloaded or the file was corrupted during transit. You must DELETE IT and then re-download your Ebook. (Don't just re-download it)

4. The Ebook will not open! The viewer screen does NOT show the Table of Contents, it is WHITE. The registration screen does NOT come up when I click.

Solution:

Your Ebook Pro did not download fully, your connection timed out, or the file was corrupted during transit. You must DELETE the partially-downloaded copy and then re-download it . (Don't just re-download it over the bad copy)

5. I get the error "Server busy, try again later" after I enter my username and password, OR I simply cannot get through, and the registration never finishes, OR I can see the text but not the pictures in my Ebook.

Solution:

You have a very strong Firewall or Anti-virus program that is preventing you from reaching our registration servers. The program has "timed out" (it just gives up and assumes that the server was busy) while it waited and waited and waited to register. It cannot get out of your computer or through your firewall.

In order to complete your registration, you must:
1) temporarily disable your firewall or antivirus program, register, and immediately re-enable your firewall or antivirus program. (NOTE: If you recently downloaded Windows XP SP2 you may have a firewall installed and not realize it). OR,
2) Use the Ebook on a different computer without the firewall or antivirus program. Or,
3) Apply 100% of the cost of your Ebook to upgrade to the paperback version.

6. My Ebook asks me to validate EVERY TIME!

Solution:

Vey rarely, but randomly, the Ebook will check to make sure you are still registered. It gives you the above warning several viewings in advance before it actually happens.

If it asks you to validate every time, then you have a Firewall or Anti-virus program that is preventing you from reaching our registration servers, so the registration you THOUGHT you did never actually takes place. The program "times out" or gives up, and waits until next time you log on to try again. Then the same thing happens.

Temporarily disable your firewall or antivirus program, register, and immediately re-enable your firewall or antivirus program. If you cannot or do not want to do this, we recommend that you get the paperback. See the offer below.

TIP: If you KNOW you will be viewing offline the next several times, select "HELP - VALIDATE NOW" while you are connected to the Internet to prevent the validation from taking place at an inconvenient time.

7. Ebook will not print. I cannot even find the print button!

Solution: Some Ebooks - if there is no print button - are for viewing on a computer only. This is due to licensing agreements. We provide a professionally-printed manual if you prefer to read a printed version.
1) You may apply 100% of your Ebook purchase to upgrade to the paperback version.



8. You are using Windows with an Asian character set installed on it OR an Asian version of Windows (RUSSIA, JAPAN, CHINA, ETC.) and you keep getting ALL the errors above! Every time a different error!

 

The Ebook can be run on an English or European language system ONLY; this warning is on ALL PRODUCT PAGES AND in the FAQ. EVERY time you attempt to access the book it will ask you to register, it will tell you registration is invalid; it will tell you that you have reached your max number of registrations. The Ebook WILL NOT OPERATE ON ANY SYSTEM CONTAINING ASIAN CHARACTERS--REALLY. You CANNOT SUCCESSFULLY INSTALL THIS EBOOK PROGRAM!

Solution:
1) Ebooks can be read and printed ONE TIME on a non-European computer. If your Ebook has a print button, PRINT IT and use the printed version.
2) OR, you may apply 100% of your Ebook purchase towards the paperback version.

9. I cannot run my Ebook on my Macintosh computer.

Solution:

10. I've changed my mind, I would rather have the paperback instead! Can I do that?
